The Rough Patch for 11/26/2025
Even If no one hears it the pin still drops
Hello and Thanks YOU for being here.
Earlier this month I was talking about working large. That’s still going to be a struggle for me. I’m looking at the drawing I did large as an experiment. Shockingly I cut it down to size so that it fit into a bankers box.
For example this entire comic is about 5in x 5in. I need help.
The last couple weeks I’ve been thinking about the joys of recycling ideas.
When I first started self publishing online there was a huge amount of pushback in the “webcomics” community on anything that even smelled like you were using other peoples ideas. It got bad for a while and some pretty serious fights broke out. The reality was that very few examples were of any actual art theft. Mostly it was all of us being influenced by each other and the world around us and everyone telling the obvious jokes.
Today I’m considering stealing from myself.
For example, here’s an old comic from 2006
and here’s a version I did the other day.
Am I happy with either version, no…. but it felt good to take a comic I loved and give it more life.
A lot of my old comics are based on real things that happened as I was raising my kids. I’m never going to get those experiences back. I’m happy that I have the comic strips as a diary of events. I think there’s value in re-visiting old work and seeing how you might approach it today with all the new tools you have built over the years.
So let’s jump into some other rough comics that may or may not see life as a digital version later.
How long can you stall and pose before you have to do actual work?
That feeling when you had the chance but missed it because you we’re trying to be polite.
It’s hunting season here in the great frozen tundra so I guess I drew a pinup. I went to catholic schools and still to this day can’t draw a pinup without feeling like a nun is watching me.
I don’t believe in hell.. quit telling me I’ll burn there.
One last comic and then I’ll shut up. This one will be getting the digital treatment.

keep the good work brother!
